About Us

Our Mission

The mission of the Nonprofit Consultant Network is to support the business practice of independent consultants serving charitable nonprofit organizations in the greater Philadelphia region. The fulfillment of this mission:

  • Contributes to the credibility of small shop consultants among nonprofits organizations
  • Raises the comfort level of nonprofit staff and board members as they navigate in the world of specialty consultants
  • Creates access to independent consultants for charitable nonprofits.

Our History

NCNPhilly was organized in 2007 to provide a forum for independent consultants to network with other solo practitioners and to serve as a resource to advance opportunities for business growth. After several years of meeting at restaurants and coffee houses in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, the network moved to its present meeting location at 4000 Chemical Road, Plymouth Meeting in the facilities of La Salle University.

Meetings are held monthly, on the third Thursday of each month, approximately 9 times each year. In the early years the emphasis was on networking and professional development through a year-long series of self-led discussions on marketing using the book Duct Tape Marketing by John Jantsch as a study and discussion guide.

Designed to coincide with the relocation of the monthly meetings to La Salle’s Plymouth Meeting campus, NCNPhilly piloted a series of pro-bono consultations with nonprofit executives and board members. The consultations proved to have great value for both the participating organizations and consultants and have become a significant part of NCNPhilly’s mission and work in the community. Professional development and networking opportunities are also provided at the monthly meetings.
